Clinic Resource Exam Center

1.     Dental Students.  

a.  Dental Students Graduating in 2020 (Patient-Based or Manikin-Based Clinical Exam).  
At its open public meeting on Friday, April 24, 2020, the Kansas Dental Board approved patient-based or manikin-based exams for dental students graduating in 2020.  All patient-based or manikin-based clinical exams from all regional testing agencies will be accepted for licensing purposes for 2020 dental graduates only.   

b.  Dental Students Graduating in 2021 (Patient-Based or Manikin-Based Clinical Exam).  At its open public meeting on Friday, November 13, 2020, the Kansas Dental Board approved patient-based or manikin-based exams for dental students graduating in 2021.  All patient-based or manikin-based clinical exams from all regional testing agencies will be accepted for licensing purposes for 2021 dental graduates only.    

c.  Dental Students Graduating in 2022 (Patient-Based, Manikin-Based, or Clinical Simulation Exam).  At its open public meeting on Friday, August 20, 2021, the Kansas Dental Board approved patient-based, manikin-based, or clinical simulation exams for dental students graduating in 2022.  All patient-based, manikin-based, or clinical simulation exams from all regional testing agencies will be accepted for licensing purposes for 2022 dental graduates only. 

d.  Dental Students Graduating after 2023.  On and after January 1, 2023, all applicants seeking a license to practice dentistry in Kansas must take and successfully complete all sections of a clinical licensure exam that is patient-based or manikin-based.  The sections required include the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE), Endodontic, Periodontic, Prosthodontic, and Restorative.

2.       Dental Hygiene Students.

a.  Dental Hygiene Students Graduating in 2020 (Patient-Based Clinical Exam or OSCE). 
 At its open public meeting on Friday, April 24, 2020, the Kansas Dental Board approved patient-based or Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for dental hygiene students graduating in 2020.  All patient-based clinical exams or OSCEs from all regional testing agencies will be accepted for licensing purposes for 2020 dental hygiene graduates only.     

b.  Dental Hygiene Students Graduating in 2021.

(1)  Patient-Based Exam.
  At its open public meeting on Friday, November 13, 2020, the Kansas Dental Board approved patient-based clinical exams for dental hygiene students graduating in 2021.  If a dental hygiene student takes and successfully completes a patient-based clinical exam, no further clinical exam components are required for licensing purposes for 2021 dental hygiene graduates only.   

(2)  Manikin-Based Exam + OSCE.  At its open public meeting on Friday, November 13, 2020, the Kansas Dental Board approved the combination of manikin-based clinical exams plus Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for dental hygiene students graduating in 2021.  If a dental hygiene student takes and successfully completes a manikin-based clinical exam, the dental hygiene student shall also take and successfully complete an OSCE for licensing purposes for 2021 dental hygiene graduates only. 

c.  Dental Hygiene Students Graduating in 2022 (Patient-Based, Manikin-Based, or Clinical Simulation Exam).  At its open public meeting on Friday, August 20, 2021, the Kansas Dental Board approved patient-based, manikin-based, or clinical simulation exams for dental hygiene students graduating in 2022.  All patient-based, manikin-based, or clinical simulation exams from all regional testing agencies will be accepted for licensing purposes for 2022 dental hygiene graduates only. 

d.  Dental Hygiene Students Graduating after 2023.  On and after January 1, 2023, all applicants seeking a license to practice dental hygiene in Kansas must take and successfully complete all sections of a clinical licensure exam that is patient-based or manikin-based.
